The raid

The first-ever Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship lands in Ahmedabad: twelve nations, men's and women's titles, and seven days of full-contact drama at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.
Seven a side. One raider at a time, holding a single breath and chanting "kabaddi", crosses into enemy territory to tag and escape. Simple to follow, impossible to stop watching.
The raider has 30 seconds to cross the mid line, touch defenders and get back home.
Every defender tagged is a point to the raider. Stop the raider and the defence scores.
Send every opponent off the mat and earn two extra points as the whole team is revived.
Three or fewer defenders bring the raider down? That's a bonus point for bravery.
Provisional list of competing nations. Final entries are confirmed by the Organising Committee.
